Well, just beat Mass Effect 2 today. Let's just say this: whao!

The first game was intense, but this one even more so. I admit, the human Reaper larvae freaked me out when I first saw it. I also kept panicking when I thought people were going to die, and during the run through Collector space. Mordin and Grunt ended up dying, which made me sad. Looking at the guide now, I can see what I have to do now to make sure everyone makes it out alive. Wanted to go throught the whole game without any tips at first.

I hadn't gained everyone's loyalty before getting the Reaper IFF, and I really wanted to make sure everyone was loyal before going on the suicide mission, which meant that Kelly and some of the other crew members died. Made a note to hold off on getting the IFF until after all the missions and assignments (except for Legion's loyalty mission, of course) were done.

In the way of romance, I chose Garrus. Kinda wish they hadn't blacked out before getting to the sex though. I still can't believe Bioware actually granted almost everyone's wish and made him a love interest. He's still one of my favorite characters in the series.

As for new characters, they were all good and strong. I ended up liking Miranda more than I thought I would after we got some insight to her character during her loyalty mission. Zaeed was cool too, but then again, I do have a thing for bounty hunters. During his loyalty mission, the guy he's after got away, but I might have him get the guy next time, just to see what happens. Mordin was probably the funniest, imo. He's so hyper all the time, and I just had to laugh when he sang. I liked Thane, and might choose him as a love interest in my next playthrough. Jack was awesome, and I couldn't help but marvel at how she tore herself through the prison when we came to get her. Then there's Legion, who is also cool and gets extra points for having the same voice actor as Wesker in RE5.

I loved the voice cast too, both big names and no-names. Returning voice actors did a great job, especially from Seth Green as Joker. Tricia Helfer was a good choice for EDI, especially seeing as how we have to listen to her all the time. I love Michael Dorn's voice and enjoyed hearing it from the Krogan warlord. Steve Blum was good as Grunt and showed that he's got range on him. I also had to smile when Adam Baldwin's voice came from Kal'Reeger. Mordin's voice actor had some chops, if he could talk that fast and sing that good. I loved Zaeed's voice, especially the accent, and Thane had a great voice too. And, of course, Martin Sheen did a fantastic job as the Illusive Man. I wish they'd brought Admiral Hackett back, though, so we could hear more of Lance Henriksen's sexy voice.

All in all, this was a fantastic game. If you liked the first one, you'll love this one. It and the first one are a must-have for any fan of sci-fi games.
