So after about half a year of impatience, Bethesda finally announced that Dawnguard and Hearthfire will be released for PS3 in late Feburary, along with Dragonborn. At a 50% discount even. I’ll consider it an early birthday present from Bethesda.

I think I’ll do them with my Nightblade Dunmer, Finn, first. Then my Nord, Lockdown (yes, based on the Transformer), and then my Argonian.

And to all the haters who thought that Bethesda was skimping out on us PS3 owners and thinking that we weren’t worth the trouble: STFU!

I probably should have written this a month ago, when I actually finished Skyrim, but stuff came up.

Talking about every little thing in the game would take forever, so I'm just gonna cover the four side questlines: The Dark Brotherhood, Thieve's Guild, College of Winterhold, and Companions. Might also give my thoughts on one or two points of the main questline.

So, I finally got around to watching the trailers that debuted at E3 on youtube. Gotta say, there were a few things that at least caught my interest.

Ramblings ahoy! )

Well, thanks to Netflix, I've been on a big movie kick as of late. I recently got to watch Predators, the remake of Nightmare on Elm Street, and the first Highlander. Predators was awesome and very in the spirit of the first movie. Never thought I'd see Adrian Brody go up against a Predator, that's for sure. And it was cool. Nightmare was a decent flick, thought it had a few too many jump scares. Jackie Earle Haley makes for one scary as hell Freddy. Highlander was good too. Clancy Brown certainly proves that he can be both scary and hammy with his performance as the Kurgan. And how can you go wrong with a soundtrack done by Queen?

Also went out and saw True Grit today. Good movie, especially seeing as how I'm a Coen Brothers fan. Might go see Tron again this weekend.

Since we get Netflix through the Wii, I've been watching some of the stuff they have available for instant play on it. Some of the movies are forgettable, but it also had Up, which I liked. It also has the first four seasons of the new Doctor Who on it. Had a marathon of the first season (with the 9th Doctor) and I'm about halfway through season two (with the 10th Doctor) right now. Hard to decide with Doctor I like better so far.

Also, just because I can't ever shut up about my game exploits, I'm very close to referring to Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion as "The Neverending Sidequests". I'm not even halfway through the main quest yet. Apparently Bethesda protagonists have adventurer's procrastination syndrome and the bad guys are very lazy. "Oh, the daedra are gonna invade at any time and the only way to stop them is to get the amulet back and crown Martin? It can wait, we still need to do that quest for the Dark Brotherhood." Also, I'm about halfway through my current Dragon Age playthrough. I'm honestly thinking of having Alistair slay the archdemon without going through Morrigan's ritual first. Then next two playthroughs I'm going through with the ritual.

And I'm done rambling now.

Saw Tron a while back, but never posted anything on it. It wasn't a masterpiece of storytelling, but it was still a very fun movie. Very much a Tron movie. Even if digitally de-aged Jeff Bridges was kinda creepy looking. So yeah, I liked it.

Now, onto Dragon Age Origins. Fun game, very fun. Has the Bioware staples of being very long, letting you tell the story and shape the protagonist as you see fit, and being so fun that you don't want to stop playing. For my first playthrough I went with female human noble, who romanced Leliana.

For a Bioware game, it's got a lot of black and grey morality. A lot of the time there is no "right or wrong" choice. It really all comes down to what the player sees as the better solution. There are times when it's a little less ambiguous, though. It's also really dark, what with the PC suffering a personal tragedy in the first half hour of the game and then suffers tragedy after tragedy. Also unusual for a Bioware game is the lack of karma meter. I've heard it's got a lot of similarities to Balder's Gate, which I've never played but have heard is good.

I'm also such a huge dork that I've already got my next few playthroughs thought out in terms of origins, genders, and love interests.

So yeah. Tron is good, Dragon Age is good.

2. I shall write you back a paragraph explaining what I think about it and why.
3. Repost in your own journal if you want.

Current top fandoms are Transformers (always), Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Final Fantasy VII and X, The Boondocks, and Knights of the Old Republic. Feel free to use a fandom in my interest section as well, though.

Fallout 3

So yeah, just finished my latest game exploit, Fallout 3. It was a fun and very memorable ride.

No shortage of things to do, that's for sure. The Wasteland is so vast and there's just so much to see and do.

I also loved the voice work, especially from Liam Neeson and Malcolm McDowell. I also liked the inclusion of Paul Eiding, as he's one of my favorite voice actors. I'll always remember him as Perceptor from Transformers.

The companions were cool. I only got three of them though, Dogmeat, Charon, and Fawkes. I think Charon was my favorite, followed closely by Fawkes.

So, all in all, this was a very fun game and I enjoyed it a lot. Now I just have to decide what to play next. Might go back to Ocarina of Time or Wind Waker.

Wii stuff

So, I ended up downloading Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time to the Wii. Haven't played that game in years. Quite a bit of nostalgia for me, plus the fact that it's the greatest game ever. Gonna be playing it a lot while I give Mass Effect a break.

It's actually a fairly different experience playing it now from when I played it as a kid. Back then it was the first "big game" I ever played and it was kind of overwhelming, with all the enemies and the strategies you had to use. Playing it now, as a seasoned gamer, I have more confidance while going through it while still having as much fun as I did playing it as a kid. Though the skeletons in Hyrule Field still freak me out. I'm not looking forward to the Shadow Temple and the Bottom of the Well either. Still, I'm glad I have this chance to relive my childhood and play such a great game again.

In other news, I started reading the Temeraire series, because I'd heard a lot of great things about it and I like books about dragons. It's been pretty good so far. Started Throne of Jade today, and I'm eager to see how it turns out.

Well, just beat Mass Effect 2 today. Let's just say this: whao!

Stolen from a couple of people on my f-list. Already did Transformers Animated for a similar meme, so no point in doing this meme for that fandom. Also, I've only played Mass Effect 1, so I'm not taking the second game into account for this.

Comment and I'll give you three fandoms. Then fill out the following:

Fandoms: Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect, Metal Gear Solid )
arwingyoshi: (prowl+jazz)
Well, now I can say that I've played both Knights of the Old Republic games.

Idea blatantly taken from [livejournal.com profile] wariena. She encouraged me to do this.
Basic idea: give the Transformers Animated cast a team of Pokemon that would fit them. Original version had Phoenix Wright characters.

So, I recently got myself a copy of Soul Calibur 3. It has to be one of the greatest fighting games ever, imo. Awesome characters, weapons, fighting moves, yeah.

Also, I just love the Create a Soul mode. Already have a couple of ninjas based off of Prowl (from Transformers Animated), and Nightbird (from Transformers G1), and plan on making fighters based off of Lockdown and possibly Starscream. Lockdown might end up being a gladiator, assassin, or possibly pirate, I haven't decided. Starscream will probably be a gladiator or swordsman. I've also thought about having at least one character based off someone from Final Fantasy VII. I'm thinking either Vincent, Tifa, Kadaj, Sephiroth, Cloud, or Cid. I'm also thinking about making a custom character of Raiden from Metal Gear Solid, possibly as either a samurai or swordsmaster.

So yeah, Soul Calibur 3 is awesome.

Well, I'm very happy right now, because a friend at school let me borrow his copy of Final Fantasy VII. I'm only about 2 hours into it, but it's freaking awesome so far :D

I'm also happy because season 3 of Transfomers Animated premieres this Saturday morning. Looks like it's gonna be great ^^
